This Pregnenolone ELISA kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of the endogenous steroid pregnenolone in human serum samples. As a crucial downstream product of cholesterol metabolism, pregnenolone is instrumental in confirming the activity of CYP11A1 and 3β-HSD enzymes in both the gonads and adrenal glands. Accurate measurement of pregnenolone can therefore assist in identifying adrenal function disorders, such as congenital adrenal hyperplasia, endocrine tumors, and infertility. Moreover, because pregnenolone is a key precursor in the steroid hormone biosynthesis pathway, this kit is also well-suited for monitoring steroidogenesis—for example, in studies evaluating the impact of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs).
